In 3 words: Gay dating app.

Doron started working out at a gym named Space. Yam was also working out there (well, trying to).

So one magical day, Doron enters the gym, does his exercises and like every Tel-Avivan gay, once he's done, he opens the Atraf gay dating app to see who's around. Since there was nothing too interesting, Doron leaves the gym and goes to buy an ice-cream (truth be told, Doron doesn't really remember what happened after leaving the gym but it sounds reasonable).

Meanwhile, Yam gets to gym right after Doron leaves. However Yam doesn't wait to the end of his workout to go on the dating app, and instead signs on right away (that's why he joined the gym in the first place). Since Doron was at the same place a few minutes before Yam arrived, his profile was still shown on Yam's dating app as someone who's around. So, while Doron was probably shoving a 3 scoop ice-cream into his mouth, Yam made the first move and sent Doron a simple "hi".

When Doron sees the message he is already so stuffed from the ice cream (so we believe because no one really remembers) and he just sends Yam a boring "Hi" back. For Yam it was a good sign to keep on texting and, even though Doron was the slowest responder ever and sometimes disappeared for almost a week ("I had enough of the dating world at that time"), Yam doesn’t give up and sends Doron a loooong list of restaurants they can go to on their first date (Doron says he found it intimidating and cute at the same time).

 

On March 22nd, 2013, the couple met for their first date in a relatively expensive restaurant (Mizlala), which is a bit too fancy for a first meeting (Doron: "This was when Yam should have realized what he was getting himself into").

 

The date goes amazingly well. They want to get another drink after they left the restaurant, but it was after 11pm and no place would sell them one. So they continue to Doron's apartment to drink a bottle of wine that Doron's mum gave to him a few days earlier.  The night goes on, the sun is getting ready for its morning show, and one glass after the other, they start to feel something for each other. The rest is history :)
